Wellness Series: Avoiding Burnout – A Mindfulness Workshop for Overachievers

PhD students and postdocs are, by nature, high performers with high expectations of themselves. Sound familiar? At this level and point in your career, you are likely facing many competing demands, from the intensity of the workload to the puzzle of balancing work and family life. External pressures, as well as the pressure you put on yourself, can sometimes be overwhelming, especially if you might be a bit of a perfectionist or overachiever. You are not alone and, in fact, over 30% of PhD students can be expected to struggle with burnout or other mental health challenges, according to a study published in Research Policy (and that was published pre-COVID!)

Mindfulness is a powerful tool that can help you regain positivity and well-being. Join licensed  mental health counselor Shelby Dwyer in this workshop created especially for PhD students and postdocs. Learn and practice mindfulness techniques that can lead you to a more positive, peaceful, and productive place.
