Women continue to be dramatically underrepresented in positions of leadership and prestige in academia, among other professions. Powerful social, economic, and institutional forces are the major causes, yet substantive change can come from the actions of individuals. This workshop will examine the current situation of women in academia and present strategies for developing a confident communication style. Individuals whose gender identity causes them to be marginalized may also find useful ideas and advice in this presentation.
