Welcome to the PhD Network

Dear Northeastern PhD students,

It is my pleasure to welcome you to Northeastern’s PhD Network.  Your diverse backgrounds, your intellectual curiosity, and your passion enhance Northeastern’s community of scholarship.  Northeastern is a vibrant and dynamic global community that embraces interdisciplinary research to impact society.  As a Northeastern PhD student you are at the center of the PhD Network with the opportunity to engage in activities directly related to your research education or activities to broaden your views and to prepare you for careers beyond Northeastern.

Our PhD Network is your portal for information about the myriad of opportunities designed to support your PhD education.  Summer 2017 events that may be of interest to you include:

  • PhD Conversations and opportunities to engage, an opportunity for PhD students from across Northeastern to engage in conversations about professional development, academic supports, and experiential opportunities.   Apply to join the Center for Advancing Teaching and Learning through Research (CATLR) Graduate Student Liaison Network or to welcome new PhD students to campus later in August.
  • Workshops to sharpen communication, offered by CATLR, on writing your teaching philosophy and communicating your research to broad audiences.
  • Connections with employers, through the PhD to Industry Accelerator offered by Career Development at Northeastern University and information about Future Faculty workshops hosted by Virginia Tech and Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

Learn more about these activities and RSVP to attend at the PhD Network Events page.  Please join the PhD Conversations, which will help us learn about what is important to you, will help identify and develop educational priorities, and will inform PhD Network programming for the 2017 – 2018 academic year.

I look forward to meeting you, learning about your experiences, and our future conversations.  Feel free to reach out to me at any time.

Regards,

Sara Wadia-Fascetti
Vice Provost for the PhD Network
