U.S. Army CCDC-Soldier Center – Synthetic Biology Enabled Materials Postdoc Fellowship
The U.S. Combat Capabilities Development Command – Soldier Center (CCDC Soldier Center) is offering postdoctoral level fellowships at the Natick, Massachusetts facility.
What will I be doing?
As an ORISE participant, you will join a community of scientists and researchers in support of our initiative in synthetic biology enabled materials research.
Why should I apply?
Under the guidance of a mentor, you will gain hands-on experience to complement your education and support your academic and professional goals. Along the way, you will engage in activities and research in several areas relating to the development of synthetic biology-derived materials and sensors for Army relevant applications. The research may include (but is not limited to):
- Synthesis of functional molecules
- Exploring molecular structure-property relationships.
- Integrating synthetic biology-derived molecules into material systems.
- Characterizing resulting material properties.
Appointments are initially for one year with the option to extend the appointment for up to four additional years, contingent upon project needs and funding availability.
Stipends are typically based on a participant’s academic standing, discipline, experience, and research facility location. Other benefits may include the following:
- Health Insurance Supplement (Participants are eligible to purchase health insurance through ORISE)
- Relocation Allowance
- Training and Travel Allowance
- Citizenship: U.S. Citizen Only
- Degree: Doctoral Degree in any area of science or engineering relevant to materials research, received within the last 60 months or currently pursuing.
