Academic Technology Scholars/Project-Based Teaching Scholars
Funding Opportunities for PhD Students and Postdoctoral Research Associates
PhD students are eligible to apply for the “Academic Technology Scholars” program, which will provide SGA stipend funding to selected PhD students for the Spring 2021 term. Students who are selected to receive this honor will receive training and the opportunity to earn a certificate in “Teaching with Academic Technology.” These Academic Technology Scholars will also be members of a digital curriculum team dedicated to supporting faculty working with hybrid formats for Spring 2021. These efforts are aligned with our focus to ensure a differentiated, high-quality student experience for all of our learners.
PhD students are eligible to apply for the “Project-Based Teaching Scholars” program, which will provide SGA stipend funding to selected PhD students for the Spring 2021 term. Students who are selected to receive this honor will receive training in basic teaching techniques as well as project-based learning pedagogy, and have the opportunity to earn a badge in “Problem-Based Teaching.” These Project-based Teaching Scholars will also be instructors of record for a group of project courses in their respective discipline, guided by a faculty mentor. These courses, all versions of INPR 1500 Special Project Courses, are part of the NU Start program, an online, asynchronous curriculum for first-year students. These efforts are aligned with our focus to ensure that these first-year students receive a high-quality learning experience based on disciplinary projects that seek to integrate knowledge in an applied setting.
