The Managing Up! workshop is focused on communication with your research group, your peers and your dissertation chair and committee members. By participating in this workshop you will gain insights on how to meet and manage expectations in your research groups as well as how to prepare for your next career step. As you look towards options after graduate school, recognize that today’s employers want employees who excel at their disciplinary education as well as in collaboration and communication. Further, your ability to communicate clearly, proactively, and assertively can help you to effectively interact with colleagues at many levels of your organization, making it possible for you to “manage up” and maximize your relationship with your research advisor, supervisor or your PI.
