Today's employers want employees who excel at collaboration and communication. Further, your ability to communicate clearly, proactively, and assertively can help you to effectively interact with colleagues at many levels of your organization, making it possible for you to “manage up” and maximize your relationship with your supervisor or P.I. The way that we communicate with others, make decisions, and structure our days is informed by our personalities and individual predispositions, so deepening self-awareness is a crucial part of professional development. In this workshop you will develop an understanding of your natural tendencies and preferred communication style by taking the Typefocus assessment (a version of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator or MBTI). With this awareness, you will learn how to communicate more effectively with future managers, collaborate successfully with team members / co-workers, and approach work-related situations with intentionality.
