In this presentation, Dr. Arielle Baker will provide an overview of their path from the basic sciences into a policy career, including the pros and cons of their journey, what a typical day of policy work looks like, and practical advice for those interested in pursuing a similar career.
Arielle Baker (they/them) is a Program Officer with the Committee on Women in Science, Engineering, and Medicine (CWSEM) and the Assistant Director of the Action Collaborative on Preventing Sexual Harassment in Higher Education at the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. Coming to the National Academies by way of a Christine Mirzayan Science & Technology Policy Fellowship, Dr. Baker currently supports projects related to creating a more equitable and inclusive academic ecosystem.
