The Experiential PhD Fellowship Program
A program to empower academics and industry collaboration
The purpose of the Graduate Student Fellowship Program is to provide doctoral students with comprehensive training in the discovery and development of innovative solutions through partnerships with experienced professionals in various industries and independent sectors.
Partner Opportunities
This Fellowship Program is entirely supported by the participating organizations and offers a unique platform for collaboration in the education and training of doctoral candidates. It also provides our partners with early access to a highly skilled talent pool for internships, potential employment, and a first look at research initiatives and technology licensing opportunities.
The program offers fellows:
- Full tuition, stipend support, and professional development support during the doctoral research period (no longer than 3 years)
- An opportunity for comprehensive interdisciplinary education from top notch faculty
- Scholarly participation of a collaborative scientist in the doctoral training experience
- Opportunity to participate in graduate summer internship programs with participating industries

Criteria and Guidelines
Doctoral candidates typically receive the Fellowship after passing their qualifying exam and at the onset of their active research. Fellows are mentored by faculty members and co-mentored by industry professionals, conducting their research either at the university or with the sponsoring organization. Any intellectual property created by the Fellows during their research is their own, and any confidential or proprietary information of the sponsoring organization is not used or disclosed without explicit written consent.
