Fellowship and Award Processing

Incoming or current PhD students may receive awards or fellowships which take the place of, or supplement, their NU funding packages (NIH F31 Grants, AHA Predoctoral Fellowships, NSF-GRFPs, NDSEG Fellowships, GEM Fellowships, Ford Foundation Fellowships, Facebook Fellowships, etc). Each award is different, so it is crucial to consult the student award letter as well as any relevant award websites or references in addition to university guidelines. The PhD Network and the Director of PhD Student Financial Operations in the Office of the Provost assist in the tracking and processing of fellowships and should be notified of new awards (see contact information below).

Administrators
Administrators can find more information and guidelines for fellowship processing in the PhD Administration & University Operations Team and on the PhD Funding Dashboard. General questions about fellowships and the fellowship payment process and information about students with newly awarded external funding can be sent to [email protected].

Students
Students can find answers to common questions on the PhD Student Funding FAQs webpage. For help with other questions, students should submit a PhD Student Funding Questions Form. Students receiving new external awards should notify PhDFunding@northeastern.edu and provide documentation of the award (e.g. the award letter and any terms and conditions).
