Fall 2024 – Developing and Automating Workflows for Mass Spectrometry Data @Amgen

LEADERs Opportunity:  

The LEADERs student project is within the Attribute Sciences of Amgen’s Process Development Organization. The project is focused on optimizing mass spectrometry data handling, data curation, and workflow automation to enable data analytics. The ideal candidate will use her/his scientific expertise and programming skills in Excel, Python and R to improve existing workflows and develop automation tools required to handle small to moderate sized datasets.

The primary outcome of this project will be development of data processing workflows and deployment to an existing web app. The candidate will also work on integrating numerous discrete datasets into a unified and extensible database.

Academic disciplines considered: Data Sciences or Analytical Chemistry

Knowledge, Skills and Attributes Required: The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, have a strong background in data sciences, and will be able to bridge the gap between analytical needs and software capabilities.

Competencies Preferred / Required: Expertise in Excel, Python & R is required. Additional knowledge of mass spec data structure and SQL may be beneficial. Interest in analytical chemistry including liquid chromatography or mass spectrometry is a welcome bonus.
