LEADERs Program
Fall 2025: Expression and characterization of bioassay critical reagent proteins @ Sanofi

About Sanofi/LMR: At Sanofi we are committed in our quest to be a world-class biologics research organization. We are pioneering innovation in biologics with the first approved nanobody drug, the first clinical stage tri-specific antibody, and novel synthetic biology for new engineering paths. Our global Large Molecule Research (LMR) platform focuses on antibodies, nanobodies and synthorins as therapeutic modalities to partner closely with other research platforms and Sanofi’s therapeutic areas (Immunology, Oncology, Rare Disease and Neurology) in the discovery and ultimate delivery of new candidate molecules into our pipeline.

LEADERs Opportunity: This project is located in Framingham, MA. We are seeking a highly motivated PhD student to help drive a genetic engineering initiative to create critical reagents for bioanalytical potency assays. Proteins of interest will be expressed in E. coli, purified and characterized in collaboration with our Characterization department. The proteins’ activity will be compared in the potency bioassays with proteins expressed in mammalian (CHO) cells to determine if the simpler, faster bacterial expression system can replace the mammalian system.

Knowledge, Skills and Attributes Needed:

    • Required: Genetics and molecular biology, cloning in bacteria, yeast, mammalian cells or other model systems, cell culture and aseptic technique, collaboration between teams and scientific communication.

Competencies Preferred:

    • Protein purification, exposure to post-translational modification analyses by mass spec
