LEADERs Program
Fall 2024: Protein and Antibody Generation and Characterization for Platform Integration @ Sanofi

About Sanofi/LMR: At Sanofi we are committed in our quest to be a world-class biologics research organization. We are pioneering innovation in biologics with the first approved nanobody drug, the first clinical stage tri-specific antibody, and novel synthetic biology for new engineering paths. Our global Large Molecule Research (LMR) platform focuses on antibodies, nanobodies and synthorins as therapeutic modalities to partner closely with other research platforms and Sanofi’s therapeutic areas (Immunology, Oncology, Rare Disease and Neurology) in the discovery and ultimate delivery of new candidate molecules into our pipeline.

LEADERs Opportunity: We are seeking a highly motivated PhD student with interests towards biologics drug discovery and protein expression and purification to join our Large Molecule Research (LMR) team. The successful candidate will work closely within our Biologics Characterization, Expression and Purification group within Sanofi R&D and help further optimize and streamline generation of complex biologics reagents including antibodies, multispecific molecules and antigens. The candidate should have a background in STEM with hands-on laboratory-based research and a passion for biologics discovery and delivering novel platform solutions.

Knowledge, Skills and Attributes Needed:

  • Possess interest around biologics/large molecule generation and purification
  • Maintain awareness of current scientific developments in antibody discovery and protein engineering
  • Oral and written communication of project updates and data packages to varied scientific audiences
    • Maintain excellent laboratory notebooks with thorough annotation and interpretation of data

Qualifications:

  • Student working towards PhD within STEM fields, preferably in Molecular Biology, Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, or similar field
  • Student must show scientific rigor with a curiosity and drive to explore new scientific questions
    • Must demonstrate an ability to troubleshoot technical and scientific problems, analyze and interpret experimental data and suggest next steps
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills are required
  • The following would be highly desirable but are not a prerequisite:
    • Experience with mammalian cell culture including sterile technique and use of biosafety cabinet (BSC)
    • Experience with mammalian expression systems (CHO, HEK cells) and general transfection techniques
    • Experience or knowledge of affinity-based and/or conventional chromatographic separation systems and techniques (Akta protein purification systems and Unicorn software)
    • Familiarity of protein characterization techniques including SDS-PAGE, analytical SEC, endotoxin analysis, SPR, mass spectrometry, flow cytometry or related techniques
