Project Title – Development of a simulation standard using engineering methods

Project Description:

Development of a General standard for Finite Element methode simulations of structural problems.

The goal of the project is to develop a general method for the setup of FEM simulation models for structural mechanics problems.

The first step is to develop a generally valid meshing strategy for simulations that can be applied to a specific class of simulation problems. Subsequently, the guideline is to be extended to the numerical simulation parameters such as time step size and/or number of time steps and convergence criteria. Finally, a comprehensive validation of the developed simulation standard must be carried out.

This results in the following work packages:

  1. Research and classification of representative problems
  2. Development of a general meshing method for identified problems
  3. Determination of the optimal numerical parameters (time step size/number, increment size)
  4. Validation and verification of the simulation standard

The planned FEA software is Ansys 2024.
