Associate Program Officer – National Academy of Medicine
The National Academy of Medicine (NAM) seeks a highly motivated Associate Program Officer (APO) to support the execution and management of two of the NAM’s major strategic initiatives: the Action Collaborative on Countering the U.S. Opioid Epidemic and Grand Challenge on Human Health and Climate Change. This is a unique opportunity to work across two large and innovative programs addressing major challenges in health care and policy.
Under the guidance of senior staff, the APO supports and helps advance program activities, including but not limited to: organizing expert meetings and workshops; handling internal and external inquiries and outreach; conducting research and developing materials, such as white papers and/or research summaries; tracking relevant issues and compiling reports. Assists senior staff in ensuring the program or project meets its stated objectives. May assist senior staff in the development of programs/projects, including developing prospectuses and fundraising, and may assist with the supervision of support staff.
Incumbent takes action to solve routine problems in areas of assigned responsibility, but receives guidance or expertise from higher-level staff on more complex problems. Incumbent establishes processes and procedures to ensure the effective and efficient operation of assignments. Incumbent has the ability to apply specific professional-level knowledge to solve problems requiring the identification and analysis of moderately complex variables.
