Canadian Federation of University Women (CFUW) – Fellowships for Canadian Women
The CFUW Charitable Trust provides funds for a range of post graduate awards and fellowships to women. The Trust is supported by donations from CFUW clubs, individual club members and non-members. The CFUW Fellowships and Awards Program is an affirmative action program as provided for in the Constitution of Canada and eligibility is restricted to women.
CFUW’s Fellowship and Award winners have produced work in a variety of academic areas, including international humanitarian efforts, feminist and gender analysis, advanced science, medicine, social justice and human rights for women and girls.
Dr. Margaret McWilliams Predoctoral Fellowship
Awarded to a woman who has completed at least one calendar year in a full-time doctoral program and is enrolled in full-time studies in Canada or abroad at the time of application. Award amount: $11,000.
CFUW Memorial Fellowship
Supports master’s studies in science, mathematics or engineering in Canada or abroad. Award amount: $8,000.
Dr. Alice E. Wilson Awards
Awarded to mature students returning to graduate studies in any field, with special consideration given to those returning to study after at least three years. Awards are available at both master’s level and doctoral level study. Award amount: $5,000.
1989 École Polytechnique Commemorative Award
For graduate studies in any field. The applicant must justify the relevance of her work to women. Award amount: $5,000 master’s level, $7,000 doctoral level.
Linda Souter Humanities Award
Awarded to a master’s or doctoral student studying in the area of the Humanities including English Language and Literature, History, Languages Study, Classics, Philosophy, Film Studies, Communication Studies, and Culture Studies. Award amount: $6,000.
Ruth Binnie Fellowship
Applicant must be enrolled in master’s studies that focus on one or more aspect(s) of the field of Home Economics/Human Ecology/Family and Consumer Sciences including human nutrition, food science, housing/shelter and aesthetics, architecture, financial resource management, clothing and textiles, family relations, human sexuality and human development. Applicant may be studying abroad. Award amount: $6,000.
