Coastal Management Fellowship

Deadline: 10/11/2020

The Coastal Management Fellowship was established in 1996 to provide on-the-job education and training opportunities in coastal resource management and policy for postgraduate students and to provide project assistance to state coastal zone management programs. In 2012, the program was expanded to include Digital Coast Partnership organizations as hosts. Up to six fellows are placed with state coastal programs every year and up to three fellows are placed with Digital Coast partnership organizations every other year, in even years. The Coastal Management and Digital Coast Fellowship program matches postgraduate students to work on projects proposed by the host and selected by the fellowship sponsor, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Office for Coastal Management.

Duration

Two years

Funding

$34,000USD

This two-year opportunity offers a competitive salary, medical benefits, and travel and relocation expense reimbursement. The program also provides fellows with professional mentoring and training.

The current salary is $34,000 per year. In the second year of the fellowship, a locality pay factor may be added to the salary, depending on the location of the fellowship.

Eligibility

For the 2020 fellowship, applicants must complete a master’s or other advanced degree between January 1, 2019, and July 31, 2020, to be eligible.

Fellowship host organizations cannot nominate anyone to be a fellow. Host organizations and fellows are selected independently of one another and then matched up through a mutual interview process.
