Consortium for Faculty Diversity at Liberal Arts Colleges – Dissertation & Postdoctoral Fellowships

Deadline: Continuous

The Consortium is a group of liberal arts colleges, and it offers residential fellowships in all disciplines of the liberal arts at Consortium member institutions for the purpose of promoting diversity in the academy. The fellowship is for one year.

Dissertation Fellowship is for scholars who have completed all requirements for the MFA or the PhD except the dissertation. This fellowship is intended for scholars in the final stage of their dissertation who will complete the final requirements for the degree during the year of residency. Fellows teach one semester course during the academic year.

Postdoctoral Fellowship is for scholars who have been awarded the PhD or MA no later than the beginning of the fellowship year and no earlier than five years before the beginning of the fellowship year. Fellows teach up to 60% of a full-time faculty course load.

A deadline of 9/30/2017 is recommended but informal.

Funding

Compensation commensurate with the compensation of a full-time, one-year instructor (Dissertation Fellowship) or a one-year Faculty member (Postdoctoral Fellowship) with comparable qualifications, with additional research funds that may be available.

Eligibility
  • Applicants must contribute to increasing the diversity of member colleges in one or more of the following ways: Increasing their ethnic and racial diversity, maximizing the educational benefits of diversity, and/or increasing the number of professors who can and will use diversity as a resource for enriching the education of students.
  • US citizens and permanent residents are eligible.
  • Applicants should have no more than five years of teaching or relevant experience prior to the start of a fellowship.
  • Graduate student applicants must be enrolled in an accredited graduate program.
