Dalhousie University – Killam Postdoctoral Fellowship

Izaak Walton Killam Postdoctoral Fellowships are awarded annually at Dalhousie University to recently graduated scholars of superior academic research ability in any discipline. Awards are tenable for two years and include travel costs, a research grant, and a conference travel allowance.

  • Canadian $55,000 annual stipend.
  • Full benefits.
  • Transportation to and from Halifax for recipient and spouse.
  • Canadian $3,000 one-time research allowance.
  • Canadian $1,000 one-time conference travel grant.
Eligibility

Applicants:

  • Must have received their doctorate prior to January 2016 or expect to complete their doctorate prior to the start of the fellowship.
  • Who hold a permanent academic position to which they will return will not as a rule be considered in this competition. Exceptions may be made for individuals who are substantially changing their field of research or who come from countries in which immediate employment is guaranteed to all competent PhD holders.
  • May be of any nationality; however, successful candidates must meet all Canadian Immigration requirements.
  • May not hold or be completing a PhD or JSD degree from Dalhousie; or have held previously, or hold as of the application deadline, an academic or research appointment of any kind at Dalhousie or King’s College.
  • Must be nominated by the chair of an eligible Department or School at Dalhousie University (see competition guidelines).
