- Foreign or second language research, teaching or assessment
- International higher education
Small Grants for Doctoral Research in Second or Foreign Language Assessment
Grants are for promising doctoral students working in the area of foreign- or second-language assessment that will help them finish their dissertations in a timely manner. Deadlines: October 15, 2018 & February 15, 2018.
TOEFL® Young Students Series Research Program: Research Grants for Graduate Students
Grants support foundational research that promotes high-quality language assessment related to young English learners between the ages of 8 and 15. Deadline: Letter of Intent due April 20, 2018; full proposal by invitation only due July 13, 2018.

Up to $2,000
Small Grants Applicant must:
- Be registered in a doctoral program leading to a degree with a specialization in second or foreign language assessment.
- Have completed all course and examination requirements for the degree.
- Have a dissertation proposal that has been approved by an appropriate committee at the candidate’s university.
TOEFL Applicants:
- Must be enrolled in a master’s or doctoral program in language testing, language education, applied linguistics or related fields.
- May be of any nationality and enrolled in any institution worldwide.
