Emerging Researchers National (ERN) Conference in STEM
The Emerging Researchers National (ERN) Conference in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) is hosted by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Programs and the National Science Foundation (NSF) Division of Human Resource Development (HRD), within the Directorate for Education and Human Resources (EHR). The conference is aimed at college and university undergraduate and graduate students who participate in programs funded by the NSF HRD Unit, including underrepresented minorities and persons with disabilities.
The objectives of the conference are to help undergraduate and graduate students to enhance their science communication skills and to better understand how to prepare for science careers in a global workforce.
February 6-8, 2020 in Washington D.C.
The 2020 ERN Travel Award covers the conference registration fee, housing, airfare, and ground transportation. The conference will begin at 6:00 pm on Thursday, February 6th, and will end at midnight on Saturday, February 8th.
Your hotel guest room cost at the conference hotel will be covered for the following nights:
Thursday, February 6th, Friday, February 7th, and Saturday, February 8th.
***For students traveling from Hawaii, hotel costs will also be covered for Wednesday, February 5th.***
ERN Travel Award applicants must be:
- (A) Undergraduate or graduate students who participate in research or education projects funded by one of the following NSF Programs:
- Alliance for Graduate Education and the Professoriate (AGEP)
- Centers of Research Excellence in Science and Technology (CREST)
- Emerging Frontiers in Research and Innovation (EFRI) Scholars
- EntryPoint
- Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSI)
- Historically Black Colleges and Universities Undergraduate Program (HBCU-UP)
- Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation (LSAMP);
- LSAMP-Bridges to the Doctorate
- National Society of Black Physicists (NSBP) Scholars
- Research in Disabilities Education (RDE)
- Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REUs)
- Tribal Colleges and Universities Program (TCUP)
- (B) Must be a U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident
- (C) Must be accepted to present a poster or oral presentation at the 2020 ERN Conference.
