Kettering Foundation – Doctoral & Postdoctoral Research Fellowship

As a research organization the Kettering Foundation relies upon a team of resident researchers to contribute to its programs. The research group includes positions open to doctoral candidates and recent post-docs. The position includes residency at the Dayton, Ohio campus for one academic year (usually July – July).

Researchers provide focused reviews of relevant scholarly and professional literature, work on individualized projects, and participate in research sessions with people and organizations attempting to strengthen democracy around the world.

  • Full-time compensation.
  • Benefits, including medical insurance.
  • Office space, use of a computer, and access to online resources for research.
  • Reimbursement for ordinary costs associated with a temporary relocation to Dayton.
Eligibility

Applicants:

  • May be doctoral candidate who are close to finishing their dissertation or have recently earned a doctorate whose research interests include elements of democratic theory and practice.
  • Must have completed course work and have had their dissertation proposal accepted by the candidate’s department.
  • May come from any discipline including, but not limited to, history, education, philosophy, journalism, public administration and the social sciences.
