NNSA Graduate Fellowship Program

NGFP is administered by Pacific Northwest National Laboratory and sponsored by the NNSA to provide students with training and practical experience that achieve the NNSA mission.

Our year-long, salaried fellowships offer:

  • Real-world experience in national security and nonproliferation;
  • Leadership development, professional networking, and specialized training; and
  • Extensive interaction and collaboration with leading national security technology and policy experts.
Duration

1 year

Funding
  • Annual salary ($62,900 Master’s or PhD in Progress, $73,900 Post Doc)
  • Hiring incentive: $4,000 (taxed)
  • 3 weeks of vacation annually, accrued weekly
  • Training, professional development, and networking opportunities
  • Tuition reimbursement (criteria apply)
  • $10,000 travel/training allotment

Eligibility

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Be matriculated/enrolled in a graduate/doctorate degree program at an accredited college or university at the time of application OR
  • Have completed a graduate/doctorate degree program at an accredited college or university no earlier than April 2, 2022
  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA in graduate/doctorate program (current or final cumulative)
  • Selected applicants enrolled in fall semester/quarter with no previous graduate-level grades must supply official transcripts demonstrating eligibility (minimum 3.0 GPA) no later than January 14, 2024.
  • Candidates must have the ability to obtain a security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship for the duration of the one-year fellowship (June 2024 – June 2025).
  • Available to work full-time for the duration of the one-year fellowship (June 2024 – June 2025).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
  • Comfort interacting with high-level government officials.
  • Open mind to new experiences and the willingness to learn about diverse cultures and perspectives.
