Yiddish Book Center: Fellowship Program

Deadline: 01/04/2021

The Yiddish Book Center Fellowship Program offers recent college graduates a yearlong professional experience in Yiddish language and Jewish cultural work. Fellows spend a year as full-time staff members, learning valuable professional skills and contributing to the Center’s major projects, working closely with colleagues and supervisors.

Working in one or two main project areas, Yiddish Book Center fellows bring their insight, ingenuity, and energy to help us carry out both established projects and new initiatives. These include:
– Bibliography and Digital Collections
– Communications and Publication
– Educational Programs
– Exhibit Planning
– Translation
– Yiddish Education

Duration

11 months.

Funding

$32,000USD

The program runs for eleven months, September to August. We typically have three to five fellows each year. Housing is not provided as part of the fellowship. Fellows receive a stipend ($32,000), group health insurance (80 percent paid by the employer, 20 percent by employee), and paid holidays, vacation, and sick days.
Eligibility

We are looking for people with the flexibility, maturity, and creativity to work both independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment. Recent graduates of undergraduate and graduate programs are encouraged to apply. International applications are accepted.
