Teaching Series: Strategies and Tools for Teaching Large Classes, Part 4

  • Organizer: CATLR
  • Venue: Virtual

RSVP

All teaching environments have their challenges and opportunities. As educators, we need to recognize the opportunities that exist in classes of any size. In this collaboration between CATLR and Academic Technologies, we will approach large classes as an opportunity to help students learn, while recognizing the unique logistical challenges that large classes pose.

Using select chapters from Strategies for Teaching Large Classes Effectively in Higher Education (Goulding, Rawn, & Kern, 2018) and relevant podcasts, you will explore instructional strategies to address each opportunity or challenge. You will also discover time-saving tips that leverage Canvas integrated tools.

Session topics include:

Part 1. September 28: Streamlining Teaching Large Classes

Part 2. October 19: Making Large Classes Active and Inclusive for All Learners

Part 3. November 9: Assessing Learning in Large Classes

Part 4. November 30: Topic to be selected by participants.

Participants are encouraged to attend all sessions. Please note: You will have to register for each individual session.

For Future Faculty Program participants, this session fulfills the “Diversity and Inclusive Teaching,” or “Assignments, Assessment and Active Learning,” or “Course and Syllabus Design” requirements.

This session is only open to Northeastern University educators. Please use your Northeastern email when registering.
